AIOC's Annual Team Challenge

The AOIC's Team Challenge is a fun event held once a year in Nanaimo for the association's club members.

Congratulations to the 2008 winners: Cape Lazo won the two-member (different levels) team event, Cowichan won both the two-member (same level) team event and took top honours in the three-member category.

In 2004, the 3-member team trophy
was won by NOSA members Liz Hayes with "Stitch" in Novice, Karen Blair with "Tanner" in Open, and Dawn Bell with "Aviva" in Utility.

The 2009 Team Challenge took place March 8 at Beban Park, as part of Forbidden Plateau's club trial. The 2010 Challenge takes place May 2.

AIOC Team Challenge Rules
  1. The team competition will be judged by an AIOC judge as a regular trial.
  2. A different AIOC club will organize the event each year.
  3. The AIOC will pay for the venue.
  4. Clubs can enter more than one team, each team must have different dogs and handlers.
  5. There will be 3 competitions, one for a three-member team (novice, open, utility), another for a two-member team (any two classes) and a new category for a  two-member team (both entrants can be from same class).
  6. Each club would enter a team(s) to compete in the competitions of their choosing.
  7. Individual competitors decide which club to compete with. The competitor must be a member in good standing of that club.
  8. Each club will pay an entry fee of $15 for each team they enter to cover the cost of the judges.
  9. The dog entered must be currently trialing at the AIOC level that they are entered in for this competition, or have completed the AIOC level, but have not achieved a higher level (‘exhibition only’ rules).
  10. The same dog may not be entered in more than one level.
  11. An alternate dog can be designated in case the representative dog has to cancel at the last minute. An alternate dog shall complete all of the exercises.
  12. The total score for each team will be used to determine the club’s placement in both competitions. For aggregate team scores, partial scores will be included.
  13. If there is a tie between the scores of two or more teams, in their own competition, there will be a heel free runoff. Each team shall chose one dog from their team for the runoff.
  14. A trophy— ‘the AIOC TEAM CHALLENGE CUP’ — will be awarded to each team. Each member of a winning team will receive a keeper trophy.
  15. The total score of the winning team will be engraved on each Team Challenge Cup.
  16. The Team Challenge Cups will be returned at the October AIOC meeting.
