Did you know?
Did you know that the inaugural meeting of the
Association of
Island Obedience Clubs (AIOC) took place Feb. 6, 1960 in Duncan? Formed to "foster the
co-operation and integration of dog obedience training clubs on
Vancouver Island," the association's function was to "act as a
clearing house for dates of proposed trials and track tests."
The AOIC's Team Challenge is a fun event held once a year in the
mid-Island city of Nanaimo. The 2009 competition
took place March 8. The Forbidden Plateau club won the three-member team event, while
Cowichan club took top
honours in the two-member (different levels) team competition. The
2010 Challenge was May 2 in Nanaimo.
Happy 50th anniversary, AIOC, from NOSA. Have a
look at some
great photos taken by Nanaimo Kennel Club's Wendy Tisdall and
Gary Trimble during special 50th anniversary celebration May 2, 2010.
