TRAINING DOGS IN SIDNEY AND NORTH SAANICH, B.C. FOR OVER 50 YEARS

NOSA Photo Gallery

North Saanich Dog Obedience Training Club members and their dogs have marched in the Sidney Days Parade for many, many years.

The club's Thursday night classes have been a fixture at Sanscha Hall and the Mary Winspear Centre since 1958, making NOSA is the community facility's oldest continuous tenant.  More than 16,000 class registrations have been taken over the years.

"... a well-behaved dog is a pleasure to own and creates a good impression wherever he or she goes.

"It is our responsibility as dog owners to do everything we can to make our dogs good citizens.

"Each dog is an ambassador for all dogs. So, by your dog’s behaviour, dogdom is judged."

  – NOSA dog trainer Irene Copus
quoted in a 1983 newsletter article.

Irene joined the club in 1967 and served in many capacities, including its training committee chairperson for many years.

In 1981, the club honoured Irene with a life membership for her many contributions.

Getting your dog to the stage where they'll pull a cart — or ride in one — down a packed Beacon Avenue during the Sidney Days Parade takes training, confidence, trust and love.
