Our Trials
NOSA
is also a competition club, and stages several obedience trials a
year.
AIOC
NOSA is also a member of the
Association
of Island
Obedience Clubs (AIOC) — an alliance of
9 dog obedience clubs on
Vancouver Island,
from Victoria to Campbell River.
 |
|
NOSA takes part in two AIOC, or club, trials a
year in March and October.
Held in conjunction with the Greater Victoria
Dog Obedience Training Club,
these AIOC trials give competitors the opportunity to earn two passes in a
single day. |

Other trials and events
The AOIC's Team Challenge is a
fun event held once a year in the mid-Island city of Nanaimo. The 2009 Team Challenge took place March 8 at Nanaimo's Beban Park.
The Forbidden Plateau club won the
three-member team event, while Cowichan club took top honours in the
two-member (different levels) team competition. The 2010 Challenge
was May 2 in Nanaimo. There was no Challenge in 2011.
Have a look at the
BC section of CanuckDogs.com or visit the
CKC or
AKC websites for trial dates and premium list links.
History:
Did you know that the inaugural meeting of the AIOC took place Feb. 6, 1960 in
Duncan? Formed to "foster the co-operation and integration of dog
obedience training clubs on Vancouver Island," the association's
function was to "act as a clearing house for dates of proposed
trials and track tests."
Happy 51st anniversary, AIOC, from NOSA.
Have a look at some
great photos taken by Nanaimo Kennel Club's Wendy Tisdall and
Gary Trimble during special 50th anniversary celebration May 2.
These photos are best viewed in "Slideshow" mode. Look for
the icon in the upper right hand corner of the page.
On a sadder note: The AIOC lost its last
founding member with the January 13, 2011 death of Les Snaith of
Campbell River.
